From School Library Journal Grade 5-8-- An unabridged version of the classic tale of Ichabod Crane, his affection for the wealthy and beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, and his confrontation with the Headless Horseman. Despite Irving's outmoded narrative style, this is still an excellent ghost story that combines appropriate amounts of humor and terror while integrating Germanic legend with New England folklore, specifically that of New York State. Garland's realistic oil paintings are either portraitures or landscapes. The former are reminiscent of Barry Moser's work, while the latter resemble those by Thomas Locker. While these illustrations act as a sophisticated balance to Irving's wordy narrative, they do not consistently evoke the mood of Arthur Rackham's interpretation (1990). In her retelling for younger children (1987, both Morrow), Diane Wolkstein avoids the African-American stereotypes that Irving used for ``comic relief'' and concentrates on telling a good story, eliminating the complicated and archaic language of the period. All in all, this new version is useful where additional copies of the unabridged edition are needed. --Andrew W. Marston I grabbed this for the Kindle since it was free, and like the previous reviewer, I only had a vague idea of the story from various cartoon versions.I was very pleasantly surprised. I've not read anything else by Washington Irving. The story is simple; the prose is easy to read but in spots is downright beautiful. Some of the scenic descriptions border on poetry. Irving writes with a dry sense of humor; and he has faith in the reader's ability to connect the dots, so he doesn't spell everything out.It's a short read - in print I guess it would be 30 to 40 pages. One GREAT thing about reading it on Kindle is having the dictionary function, as there were a number of archaic terms with which I was not familiar.I give it 5 stars for the combination of price and quality of writing. If you'd like some good writing, a peek into America (upstate New York) at the end of the 18th century, and a little wit, go ahead and grab it - especially if it's free!

What if you lived in a town that everyone said was haunted? How would you like it if you were running for your life from a headless horseman? Well that's what the schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane does in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. To begin with this book will keep you on the edge better than any other book. When Ichabod is alone in the woods at night and starts hearing noises you have no idea what's going to happen to him. From experience my heart was pumping faster than it ever had before while I was reading a book. Another good reason to read this book is it will hook you in from the very beginning. It was so good that I was anxious to turn the next page and see what was going to happen. I liked the book so much that I finished the it the same day I started it! The next reason is it can be scary. When Ichobod is in panic as he rides his horse down the road because he is being chased by the headless horseman you don't know if Ichabod will live or die. Even though it may not be that scary in the beginning it gets a lot scarier later on. Besides the book being scary it is also a love story. Ichabod is deeply in love with the beautiful Miss Katrina Van Tassle but unfortunately so is Brom Bones. He is a rough, bold, and strong man that would do anything to get what he wants. In the book he trashes Ichabod's schoolhouse because he caught him talking to Katrina. That still doesn't stop Ichabod from trying to get the one he believes is his one true love. Out of all the books that I have ever read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has hooked me in faster than any other. If you like scary/mystery books this would be the book for you. Although it is a cool book I recommend it to kids 8 years of age and older because of the scary and suspenseful moments the book has in it. So next time you are at the library and want a good book, get The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Then you can get chills in the dark, too!

25 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Enjoyable By Mom in Hooville This version of Irving's tale is designed for younger children. The illustrations are lovely--not scary at all. I do think, however, that the text is a little long for a 4 year old to sit through, especially since some of the vocabulary and sentence structure is a bit advanced. I'd say this was appropriate for 6 and up.

By clevelandjunglist Bypassing the Kindle translation lacunas, which usually just damaged a word or two at a time and could be contexted out, the overall readability was fine. Obviously there are also a lot of charts and graphs in this book that sit better in print format.As far as the content - it reminds me a lot of an extended version of Rudolph Steiner's Outline of the Occult Sciences. As it stands I don't fully know what to make of it because there is a lot of material here I haven't heard before and all I can do is vet it on internal cogency. Handling of physical, etheric, astral, and mental evolution make a lot of sense, the criss-crossing of different kinds of evolution makes a lot of sense in context to other things I've read, also the mystic biblical exegesis makes perhaps even a bit more sense than what I saw from Steiner. I also see this as the kind of book that subtly insinuates that evolution is generally stressful and that making it to Future Jupiter, Future Venus, etc. will be just as stressful in its own ways - perhaps even more so - than our incarnations on earth.Overall the presentation is that there's no magic involved, that what we've called magic is in modern minds a hideous misnomer for something much more natural (making the measurement problem work for you in the industrial processing of your own consciousness - the long-haul name for that game is alchemy), and that what we've really been given here is work - lots and lots of work! It makes sense I suppose that we don't see past lives or just how many daunting future incarnations we have, most of us would have our heads in the toilet for a good while over that.

Old Fashion Mystery By Sylvia Wadlington The Childerbridge Mystery by Guy Newell Boothy was written in 1902 and mystery writing has become much more complex since then. This tale is written in the classic English, murder in the Manor, style and has a bit of everything you'd expect including a love story, a murder, a few ghosts and a bit of suspense. Lacking the details of a contemporary piece made it fairly short and though I didn't find the work riveting, it was an enjoyable, quiet read.

Guy Newell BoothbyWritten just at the turn of the century (19th to 20th), this novel is pretty much an old English manor mystery story. Of course, there is a murder - with another mystery on top of that. Plus a ghost tale is involved. Then, too, there is the thwarted romance angle. Pretty much standard fare for such tales, except there are a few unusual twists thrown in which make it a good read.Judging this book on the time period and its type, I allot it 4 stars.William Standerton had emigrated to Australia at the age of 15. Eventually he married and had two children. His wife had died a few months after the second child was born. Years passed and he became quite wealthy. At the start of the novel he decided to take his children, 24 year old James and 20 year old Alice, and return to England, purchase a manor house and retire to comfortable country living. Just prior to departure from Australia something occurs which has a dire effect on those plans.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I'll Go Along With Most of the Other Reviewers By drkhimxz 1902 is the date on this mystery, the first by Guy Boothby that I have read. I am going to get the others in Kindle editions which, if this is a good sample of his work, are a bargain at the price (in this case-free). It is possible that you will not like the easy-going style of the period in which, customarily, the Good Guys are good clean through and the Bad Guys......The woman, of course, are lovely, intelligent, demure, and worshipful toward their Men. No nasty premarital sex nor lovemaking that goes beyond a chaste hug, a light kiss on the hand, or, in advanced cases, light kiss on the cheek, perhaps, even on the lips. The Good Guys are virile, usually well-dressed in whatever garb, rough or formal, suits the particular occasion. As much as possible, ugly detailing of the manner of death are avoided as are most of the dark side of the world (save for the iniquitous settings into which heroine and hero may, of necessity, enter for some virtuous purpose).Am I ridiculing this style: not at all. I like books like this when well done. Modified, in the hands of a better writer, this describes the John Buchan style as well. The book is an easy and quick read, little extraneous detail to slow one down. Should be good reading for those who can adapt to the popular imagery of books that would appeal to my mother, for example, who was born in the year this was published.

Marble Anyone who thinks centuries-old tragedies aren't relevant to modern times should read "The Changeling." With a few very minor adjustments, the plot and characters in this play could come right out of a modern crime novel, or even a modern true-crime story.This is one of those plays where you read because you're more interested about what happens to the bad guy (and the bad gal) than what happens to the good guys. (Alsemero who! ) I envy the performers who get to play DeFlores and Beatrice-Joanna.A lot of scholarly treatises about the play criticized the humorous subplot, claiming that it had no relevance and no connection to the main plot. My response is, "Hell-o! Is anybody home?" OK, that wasn't a scholarly response, but any scholar who can't see the thematic connection (characters who mask their true natures versus characters in disguise) doesn't deserve a scholarly response.Anne M. MORALITY, MISUNDERSTOOD; PSYCHOLOGY, ITS MOST DISTURBED By A Customer Firstly, thanks to Joost Daadler for his stunning introduction to the edition I read of 'The Changeling'. The in-depth analysis of the psychological disturbances and functions that exist within the play (such as the ID and the unconscious dropping of the glove, etc.), help expand 'The Changeling' into a lot more than just (though this would be no bad thing!) a morality play where an orthodox Christian message runs predominant. I have never read a play that reduces the human to the bestial in such an intense and forceful manner, not shying away from the painful and somewhat humiliating view that human kind are more or less governed by their instincts; sexual impulse being one such motivating factor that can rid a human of any intellect ot reason that is supposed to constitute 'humanity' in the first place. This ia must read and not just a moral, didactic play either. It is not condemning sexuality but pleading with us that it must be understood. Overall, it is a tragedy that really challenges its reader into thinking hard about whether certain characters (e.g. Beatrice) can be more sympathised with than maybe one thought upon first reading. Read it!

How many people are changelings in their world? Beatrice, focusing only on what she wants--does she really know what she wants? De Flores, who like many just focuses on himself... As Euripides for the Greeks is close to the modern mind, so are Middleton and Rowley for the Renaissance. You will find that you connect to the pivotal characters like those you know, so well are they drawn. The play itself is striking, and keep an eye on the subplot; note how it underscores the madness with its contrast to the main plot.The New Mermaids is the best edition I've found! I highly recommend this edition of the play, whether new to Renaissance drama or scholar. The footnotes are exceptional--even my professor was astonished and pleased. They make you understand quite clearly that "nunnery" wasn't the only sexual ambiguity of interest! (And why certain characters react to words we find innocuous.)It is a tragedy of people oblivious to others... A very good example of Renaissance drama, and one that sticks in your mind.

Amazon.com Review Emily Dickinson proved that brevity can be beautiful. Only now is her complete oeuvre--all 1,775 poems--available in its original form, uncorrupted by editorial revision, in one volume. Thomas H. Johnson, a longtime Dickinson scholar, arranged the poems in chronological order as far as could be ascertained (the dates for more than 100 are unknown). This organization allows a wide-angle view of Dickinson's poetic development, from the sometimes-clunky rhyme schemes of her juvenilia, including valentines she wrote in the early 1850s, to the gloomy, hell-obsessed writings from her last years. Quite a difference from requisite Dickinson entries in literary anthologies: "There's a certain Slant of light," "Wild Nights--Wild Nights!" and "I taste a liquor never brewed."

The book was compiled from Thomas H. Johnson's hard-to-find variorum from 1955. While some explanatory notes would have been helpful, it's a prodigious collection, showcasing Dickinson's intractable obsession with nature, including death. Poem 1732, which alludes to the deaths of her father and a onetime suitor, illustrates her talent:

My life closed twice before its close; It yet remains to see If Immortality unveil A third event to me,

So huge, so hopeless to conceive As these that twice befell. Parting is all we know of heaven, And all we need of hell.

The musicality of her punctuation and the outright elegance of her style--akin to Christina Rossetti's hymns, although not nearly so religious--rescue the poems from their occasional abstruseness. The Complete Poems is especially refreshing because Dickinson didn't write for publication; only 11 of her verses appeared in magazines during her lifetime, and she had long-resigned herself to anonymity, or a "Barefoot-Rank," as she phrased it. This is the perfect volume for readers wishing to explore the works of one of America's first poets.

There are two versions of the reading edition of Emily Dickinson's poems that are usable. And by usable, I mean that the texts (note the work "texts") are what Emily Dickinson wanted the texts to be. The first version is, as I read the description of the volume in question, is the Thomas H. Johnson text. Now, friends, (excuse me if I seem patronizing, but as a Dickinson scholar, long of tooth, and weary of stupidity, I have my prejudices), Johnson's text has been a fully acceptable and competent version since it was published as the authoritative Dickinson in 1955 (Belknap Press of Harvard University Press issued the variorum, three volume version of all the authoritative poems in the same year.) This is cool. The newest version of Emily Dickinson poems was edited by R.W. Franklin, and the readers' edition was published in 1999. There is also a new variorum edition published by Belknap Press of Harvard and edited by Franklin. So. I am boring you with all of this detail to tell you that the Johnson texts are good texts. If you are serious about Dickinson--meaning if you actually care about what she wrote on the page--the Johnson and the Franklin will give accurate texts. F.W. Franklin has been working on details where Johnson lacked insight since the '60's. He knows whereof he speaks, and he has done his utmost to reassemble Ms. Dickinson's original manuscripts in their proper order. Previous versions of the poems--those before Johnson and Franklin--regularized rhyme and otherwise abrogated the accuracy of the poems. They were cleaned up according to late 19th century standards, and the texts--despite editorial comments to the contrary--are corrupt. That means that they are inaccurate. So, dear friends, if you want Emily Dickinson with accuracy--despite the rapturous testimony of some reviewers--go for the Johnson or Franklin texts. The others are mostly fraudulent. And in case you actually care, my credentials are respectable, and I don't work for a publisher. Use Johnson if you have him with confidence. Franklin is most current and should be impeccable. Other texts, including some that are in supposedly respectable American literature anthologies, may be suspect. (One of the most respectable uses texts that derive from late 19th century texts that were declared corrupt some 40 years ago.) So--hope this is of some use.

Zero at the Bone By Dennis Littrell Nearly everyone who's had a brush with American lit knows the story of Emily Dickinson - her poetry unpublished in her lifetime, and then even after her death, her verses seeing the light of day only after having been "improved" on by an editor who found her rhymes imperfect and her meter "spasmodic." He even went so far as to make her metaphors "sensible." The fact is, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, to whom Dickinson had sent her poems, was a representative of the poetic establishment, and as with all artistic establishments then and now, was too rigid in his thinking and too impoverished in his imagination to comprehend a new voice of genius. As Editor Thomas H. Johnson writes in his terse but very instructive Introduction, "He was trying to measure a cube by the rules of plane geometry."Of course other women of literature suffered something similar during the nineteenth century. What I wonder is, who is being misread, ignored or denied today?Anyway, suffice it to say that this IS the definitive one-volume collection of the poetry of Emily Dickinson. It includes all the 1,775 poems that she wrote in her lifetime, and they are presented here just as she wrote them with only some minor corrections of obvious misspellings or misplaced apostrophes. Johnson has retained the sometimes "capricious" capitalization, and preserved the famous dashes.There is a subject index, which I found useful, and an index of first lines, which is invaluable.Dickinson can be playful...I'm Nobody! I have a huge issue, though, with the formatting.Poetry flows - or, should. A poem comprises both linguistic content and graphic display. Its presentation on the page is a part of the poem. The display of poems in this edition is flawed in a ways that can be jarring and distracting: Although many of the poems are short, short enough to fit on a page, they are not arranged that way. A poem of just a few lines will frequently begin on a page and be continued on the following page, often with the division occurring in the middle of a stanza. Then, below it, the next poem will begin and be chopped up in the same fashion.I am disappointed to find yet another Kindle book that shows disregard for quality as evidenced in negligent formatting. ok, it's cheap, but reinforces what should be a constant 'Kindle rule': always view the sample before buying anything.

It is a short read but is long on good advice and philosophy By Daniel Darger The Hunter’s Creed”I purchased this book after a tip from the author, Garn Christensen, that it was available. It is a short read but is long on good advice and philosophy.The first part of the book discusses the author’s philosophy about hunting animals. This laid the groundwork for his discussion of the value of life, the value of fending for oneself, the value of the environment, personal responsibility, etc., etc. all of which should be lived through “patience, persistence and perseverance”.The second part sets out Mr. Christensen’s personal philosophy that serves him to color all of the above. He calls them “Seven Concepts” and include honesty, personal responsibility, live in the present, listen to your inner voice, acknowledgement of a universal power (God for some), communication with this universal power (prayer) and a positive attitude. While I was a bit reluctant to acknowledge the terms “God” and “prayer” I concede that I do not deny the ideas behind them.The illustrations by Janis Wheeler are superb. I am a proponent of the idea that illustration brings a value to a story that photography cannot capture. And, in my opinion, she did. She brought the animals into the story exactly as I imagined. Well done!This is a thoughtful discussion of an activity that I cannot relate to (hunting) and I wonder how a favorite brother-in-law, with a living-room fully of trophy heads (and an entire bear) thinks about it. I like how Christensen does.

By jim84103 The Hunter's Creed is a thoughtful book about ethics, love the of the land and on how much the earth gives to us. The author starts with the ethics of hunting and the stewardship of our wildlife. He treats respect for life as part of the hunter's creed. He makes it clear that the chase, not the kill, should be the motivator for today's outdoorsman. I won't say it's old fashioned; I will say what Christensen has to say has been forgotten by too many. I have hunted waterfowl for 62 years and this year I said "I'll just go to the marsh to watch the sunrise. No gun." It gave me all the pleasure of the hunting experience without taking a life.Back in the Depression, hunting for family sustenance was a way of life. Today it seems that hunters need to have a pickup, a trailer, an ORV to go hunting. Christensen's book made me chuckle as I remember figuring out the cost per duck killed when I joined and hunted at a duck club many years ago. My season cost per duck was something like $273.It's also long overdue that someone gave praise to our game and fish managers. Politics has too often gotten in the way of good game management. Christensen makes a good case for these unsung heroes and protectors of America's heritage.Finally, the author treats survival skills with simple, effective means for living in the wilderness until help arrives. It's as much a matter of the human mind as it is of the resources provided by nature. Some of his tenets can be applied to an urban lifestyle. Read them and think about it.It's a short, interesting read for anyone who spends anytime out of doors. I recommend it.James W. "Jim" Ure.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Tiny but Powerful By Dave Greegor This is a book that at first glance, doesn't look like much. It is very short and very simply presented. I'm an ecologist, environmentalist, and outdoorsman but I am not a hunter nor have I ever aspired to be one. Having said that, upon finishing Garn Christensen's book I thoroughly appreciated the fact that he made it very clear that good hunters are good ecologists-environmentalists. If his philosophy were instilled in every hunter, young and old, I firmly believe the negative reputation that hunting frequently gets would be greatly diminished. I've been out with several hunters who can read the landscape and see wildlife that I can't after a lifetime of field research. This makes perfect sense because throughout most of man's evolution, our survival has depended on hunting. I loved Mr. Christensen's personal accounts and the quiet pen and ink wildlife drawings by Janis Wheeler which only served to strengthen Mr. Christensen's message. This is what I took away from this subtle, but softly powerful little book. Proof again, that you can't judge a book by its cover.

By Barry Wallace I had never heard of Gibson until I came across his work while researching another writer. I was particularly glad to discover him because I am interested in New England nature writers. His books are impossible to find except in the reprint editions. A remarkable writer with extraordinary knowledge of botany. His prose is as delicate and beautiful as the trees and flowers he describes. He often illustrates his own work with exquisite drawings. Pastoral Days is rich with detail. Gibson was also an early ecologist as he seeks to connect insect and plant life, to explain habitat and to make Darwin's work intelligible in the late 19th century. Most appealing is his interest in the local and everyday experience of nature. My sense in reading Gibson was that I had rediscovered a master whose work needs to be more widely known and celebrated. Pastoral Days with Gibson are verdant and nostalgic, an unforgettable tour of an old New England that can still be found if you open your eyes as he urges us to do.

By John C The following comment refers to the Kindle edition of "An Essay on Criticism" by Alexander Pope with introductory and explanatory notes, produced by Ted Garvin, David Garcia and the Online Distributed Proofreading Team.38 pages where every verse is worth its words, however hard some of the references might appear nowadays. Pope wrote it when what we think in term of ancient classics were not so old, and not yet swept away and submerged by tide after tide of new works, making it difficult for the new generations to find the time to delve into the wit of the past. "Wit", a word that Pope does use often in this work and which deserves a study of its own due to the multiple layers of meaning it discloses. Still, this edition has the merit to offer an interactive explanation of the more or less obscure quotations, adding to the gratification the reader can derive.Many facets of criticism are explored and expounded by Pope, making them appear illuminating, convincing and, what matters most, simple in their brevity.Few pages that deserves to be mulled over several times to be appreciated even more.And last, but not the least, Amazon offers this edition at zero cost. True, it is available free on line, but it is an honest move by Amazon to declare it and offer it all the same in its catalogue.

Contrary to the earlier reviewer, this edition is not free. I rarely pick the free edition, if there is also a very inexpensive edition available as well. The free edition almost invariably has flaws, and no extra features such as commentary. It is simply Pope's text. But it is a very clean text, without the usual detritis of a poor paper to electronic conversion. Be aware that there is a newer Kindle version, with a different cover (a painting of Pope) at $.99, but with the addition of an introduction written by a modern writer. I suggest you buy that edition.

Science of Swimming Faster, by Scott Riewald

About the Author

Scott Riewald, PhD, is the U.S. Olympic Committee’s winter sport high-performance director. He works closely with eight winter sport national governing bodies to coordinate sport science and medical services for their athletes. He has served as the biomechanics director for USA Swimming at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. In this role, he was part of an international biomechanics research team at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and provided education and services to many of the nation's top swimmers. He has given presentations to athletes and coaches about using science to positively affect performance. Riewald has also been involved in cutting-edge research in evaluating new technologies and swim performance, and he has worked as the biomechanics director for the United States Tennis Association in Key Biscayne, Florida.

As an undergraduate at Boston University, Riewald was a competitive swimmer and still holds several school and conference records. He was named a GTE Academic All-American his senior year and was later inducted into BU's Athletic Hall of Fame. After earning an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering, he competed in triathlons and coached a masters swimming team. He earned his MS and PhD in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University. Riewald is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and a certified personal trainer. He is coauthor of Complete Conditioning for Swimming (Human Kinetics, 2008).

Riewald and his wife, Suzie, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with their two children, Maddox and Callie.

Scott Rodeo, MD, is a clinician-scientist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he also serves as co-chief of the Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service. His specialty includes treating sport injuries to the knee, shoulder, ankle, and elbow. He also is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Rodeo holds a board position at Asphalt Green in Manhattan, where he helps promote injury prevention and healthy living through exercise. He served as team physician for the 2004, 2008, and 2012 U.S. Olympic swimming teams and the New York Giants football team. He has been involved with USA Swimming, serving as a chair of their Sports Medicine and Science Committee. Rodeo is also a former competitive swimmer and provides medical support for local swimming programs.

This Book Will Help Improve Swim Times By Diane H This book takes cutting edge research from many science disciplines—including physics, kinetics, anatomy, psychology, nutrition and medicine—and reduces it to practical advice to increase swimming speed. While this book would be excellent for swim coaches and students of swim kinesiology, it is also a good reference for the hobby swimmer, swim fan, or a parent of a swimming youth too.The first part of the book breaks apart each phase of a swim stroke with separate chapters on freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. It also includes techniques for starts and turns. Part two emphasizes training including the best training/tapering/recovery methodology and competition day strategies. Part three includes information on nutrition, performance enhancers, psychology, growth/development, injury prevention, and strength exercises to do outside the water to enhance performance within it. Part five concludes with sections on special groups including adolescents, older (master) swimmers, females, open water and adaptive swimmers.Overall, the book is overflowing with helpful information written in an understandable manner.I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway but that has not impacted my review.

By An on my mouse The Science of Swimming Faster is just about every Internet search I have performed on swimming in one tome. The target audience may very well be coaches and the elite circles of swimming, but the swimmer who cannot bear to put his face in the water will benefit as well. Indeed, this book is a well-researched read with in-depth information for the youngest competitive swimmers through Masters, and including swimmers who have special adaptive needs. Every start, every stroke, and every turn is meticulously explained. The physics as well as the physiology behind the swim is covered. Why did Janet Evans’ stroke work for her while the rest of us should bend at the elbow? We learned the ‘S’ pull as kids, but that is no longer the rule. There is a line graph somewhere in the book to show you why. This is also one of the few books I have come across that goes into depth the finer points of fly, back, and breast as well. Breastroke, a hard enough stroke to teach a proper kick for, is explained down to the muscles that are taxed when elite athletes swim. Dryland training, nutrition, tapering, ageing, and a myriad of other subjects are also covered in a well-organized fashion. Some of the pictures are a bit difficult to see due to the small size, but that’s an easy work around. It is obvious that this book was well researched. There are nearly 30 pages of references and an impressive compilation of contributors who work in various fields to create this swimming bible. I received this book free from the early reviewers program though librarything.com in return for a review. This did not affect my review.

Took me awhile to read but it was worth it. My timing in the first leg of a triathlon is surprisingly less. The dynamics that both authors explain in the textbook is correct. If you follow the law of physics you are guarantee to shave some seconds, or even minutes!! It is worth reading.Definitely recommend this book to every triathlete out there...

I got a hard cover copy of this and loved the cover and the butterfly theme as to me it meant transformation of some sort. Now to the BOOK. I really took my time reading it and enjoyed the process. It moves along at a steady to fast pace thought. NOW What i LOVED. Reading this author gave me a feeling of enchantment or the fairy tale energy. That was the pleasure of reading this style of writing and this book.This is set in the future and the hope of where the characters are going. A sense of vision where this might take them. I felt engaged and almost reminding of a butterfly fluttering its WINGS to take me on the journey and maybe opening a doorway to a FILM. Something about how the author writes that gave me that feeling and sense and hope this could be a movie It is hard to capture fully what that means, butit is like reading a book and pre screenplay that could be set to be a working book that goes into film.I felt this was a SOUL MATE Story and again this feeling of HOPE.I did not read the previous books in this series, but I could figure out fast this FUTURE SETTING was for me like reading the book ending and it honestly 'touched' my heart and left with FEEL GOOD FEELINGS.SO I am going to read mptr from this author and see how she grows her body of work.LOVELY Story and filled with FUTURE HOPE. A few spelling fixes needed along with a couple grammatical polishing spots but the story is solid, entrancing. It is a story of friendship and family, and the ups and downs of Life. Mystical is not usually my bag but I enjoyed this tale, especially the part where everything has a meaning, which I believe to be generally true. As an author I believe it is good storytelling! I look forward to reading what she comes up with next!
