P offers an allegorical look at poverty in America. As a young mother, Positively has five children and a health condition. She craves for a better life for herself and her children free from the appalling conditions of American poverty. As the castoffs of society, Positively and her children are drafted to the 51st State of America called No Where. They must remain in this State until the government amends their anti-poverty law, and Positive's American citizenship is restored. In No Where, she discovers the different causes of poverty besides her own struggle of being educated and a single mother who can't provide for her family. She meets Escape and Ms. Sorrow, who share their stories and hopes for freedom. In the end, Positively must decide if the draft of her family is the end of her dreams or if she should continue to appeal to the American government.

An allegory that pricks your emotions and stirs your anger on America's issues with poverty. The characters become your family and leaves the reader wanting more!

2 of 4 people found the following review helpful. P should stand for, "positively needs an editor" By Amazon Customer I liked the basic idea and premise of the book. Beyond that, I found the writing very dense and overly reliant on simile and metaphors. Here is an example:"A brown carpet was extended from the entrance past the reception desk and downstairs to the youth area of the Old Library. It had high ceilings and books on shelves that appeared to be waiting for someone to choose them for a formal dance in their mind like they were at a royal ball of knowledge. Large and small study tables with many lamps stood in rows of two in a center space in front of the shelves lonely and deserted by scholars."Allegory is great, but not when it's too obvious and blatant. Of course, Positively Chose is the name of the protagonist and her children all have names with a positive spin. She runs into characters named (predictably enough) Miss Escape, Miss Sorrow, and an antagonist named Lady Lost. I also found it interesting that one of the most negative characters, "Miss Deceitful Ways" is the only one whose ethnicity (Haitian) is specifically mentioned. I was surprised that the author included a negative review of the Affordable Care Act (called here, the No Mercy Medical Care Act.) My advice to the author would be to keep writing, find a good writer's workshop, and most importantly, find a good editor to fix some of the issues such as sentence-verb agreement, misused words (waist instead of waste), and tense shifts, in order to help prepare the manuscript for publication.
