By Michelle@Book Briefs My ThoughtsLosing the Ice is the second book in the New Adult Ice Series. The Ice series is a contemporary romance series centering around ice skating pairs. You should read the first book, Crossing the Ice, before you read Losing the Ice as they both feature the same couple. Courtney and Josh. Crossing the Ice was one of my favorite books of 2014 so I feel confidant recommending it to fans of contemporary romance and ice skating everywhere. I love Jennifer Comeaux's writing. If you remember the first book, Courtney and Josh each had a different pairs skater so they never really got to skate with one another much.In Losing the Ice they are finally paired up together and I was super excited to see them skating together. And don't worry the skating is every bit as vivid and great as it was in the first book. But the tone of Losing the Ice was much more somber than Crossing the Ice. Something bad happens with Josh pretty early on in the book and I was completely devastated. The remainder of the book centers around this one event and its' consequences. I am really hoping that there is another book in the series and that the next one is a little more happy go lucky. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the way everything panned out in this one, but it felt kind of on the shorter end and kind of sad a lot of the time. And well, I love Courtney and Josh so much that I just want the best for them.I also hope in the next book someone just slaps Josh's mom into behaving properly. That lady really bugs me. Let's focus on the positive things in Losing the Ice. The writing is great, the characters have still completely stolen my heart, and I even grew to like someone that I didn't in the first book, which is always exciting for me. I also admired how solid Courtney and Josh seemed with each other. Their relationship is great, and they are both so supportive. It is admirable. Losing the Ice is a good continuation of the Ice series. I am ready for the next book please!*disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.

By Sarah Schneider Losing the Ice jumps right into the action. It's been a few months since the end of Crossing the Ice, and Josh and Courtney are at their first big skating competition as a new pair. Courtney and Josh are an amazing couple, and even though their love and partnership is put to the test, I never once worried it wouldn't work out. Jennifer has created such a strong, loving bond between the two that nothing could break them up.Even dealing with his injury, Josh is still a hunky, swoon inducing lead. Courtney handles everything in stride, including Josh's horrible family, while still being her sassy self! Surprisingly, by the end of the book I was hating Stephanie (Josh's sister) much less. Turns out the witch has a heart after all!My only complaint was that Losing the Ice ended so quickly - I think I read it in one sitting! But no worries because Jennifer has already started on the next book in Josh and Courtney's series!

Ice Series Trilogy — Another Gold for Jennifer Comeaux By IMHO A huge fan of Jennifer Comeaux's first series, the "EDGE" books hooked me on her world of competitive figure skating, with characters and plots so well crafted that they lived on in my mind long after I'd reluctantly read the last page. Her Ice Series Trilogy picks up several years later, continuing Em and Sergei's story, focusing on students we'd met first as young skaters in the EDGE Series, Courtney and Mark, now the senior skaters hoping for their shot at Olympic Gold.I binge-read the three Ice Series books during a recent beach trip...once again the characters captured my heart and the story kept me reading "Just one more chapter" late into several nights.... Each book could be read on its own, but reading them in order within a few days was a treat! Once again Comeaux's world gives an inside view of the sport of competitive figure skating, the sacrifices and dedication of the skaters, parents, and coaches, and the realization that not even those who work hardest are guaranteed the success they seek.Courtney and Josh's relationship develops and grows over the three books. From the initial sparks in Crossing the Ice, through the early conflicting emotions of becoming involved with your competitor in chasing the same prize, I wanted Courtney and Josh to make it. Losing the Ice (book2) takes the couple through a particularly difficult time in their relationship, while adding depth to both characters. The third book, Taking the Ice, (no spoilers!) concludes the trilogy wonderfully, but hopefully this is NOT the last time Courtney and Josh play a role in one (or more) of Comeaux's future books. Yes, this reader is eagerly anticipating future series!Taking the Ice (Ice Series Book 3)
