A Must Read For Everyone By Carla Kindle This book provides very simple, detailed, easy to do tips and techniques on how to independently start and cultivate a garden of healthy foods, free of pesticides and other chemicals. In an era of having to concern ourselves with all of the unhealthy components attached to our foods, we need to be educated about how we can grow our own foods. Not only is it necessary for our health but it is also essential in the event we find ourselves without our everyday resources that we are so used to having at our disposal. Great job to the author who took the time to explain and educate us on this very important topic that we don't often think about nevertheless we should.

(The moral: you get what you pay for) By Gisela Hausmann The words "First things first. We give away a lot of our eBooks for FREE" should have tipped me off but I guess I had a weak moment. To sum it up: If you don't know the information featured in this book you better go back to middle school. The only reason why I did not give this book 1-star is because it contains a chapter "saving your seeds" which sounds interesting, especially the part of saving the tomato seeds. I have never saved any seeds and I don't know anybody who does, but I am willing to accept that this m a y be useful information.I am not sure what I expected, I guess I thought this book features some kind of prepper information. While in the past I used to live in regions where veggies could be raised easily I now lived in an area with lots of red clay soil. So, I thought that maybe this book featured some tricks how to grow foods, everywhere, under all conditions. NOT so!While I agree with the author's statement:"... The most promising way to secure your future is to learn how to grow your own food so that it will, in fact, be able to last you through the foreseeable future, ..."Part 2 of this sentence, "... should any disasters arise." is just BS. Though every president since Bush I (Hurricane Andrew) has been criticized for their response time to natural disasters, usually the National Guard is at location within two days. Also, better weather forecasts allow the various local and state governments to prepare in a way they couldn't do in the past. I just lived through Nor'easter "winter storm Jonas" striking in the Greenville, SC area. I believe eighteen thousand people were out of power. Since Duke Energy had response teams from Missouri standing by, power was fully established within three and a half days. But, even if the affected region were so big that it would take weeks till basic systems were up and running... is this author trying to say that my veggie garden would survive such a storm? That is ridiculous.Another statement that makes it clear that this author has not thought through his topic:"... If you plan to grow wood for heating purposes, you’d need an additional acre per household...."Grow wood for heating purposes? It takes thirty (thirty) years for a tree to mature! And, after the wood's been cut it needs to dry out for at least one summer. 'nuf said. This book also features a few paragraphs that sound as if they originated in some different book:".... Creating a Strategic Vision The next step after identifying your Gardening Purpose is creating a strategic vision. ... Just keep in mind that eventually, you should put your best ideas into practice by aligning them with the goals that you identified in your Gardening Purpose...."HUH? I guess that's true for everything...The one statement I do subscribe to is,"... Moreover, many people today are choosing to purchase organic produce, and for good reason. We still know very little about what preservatives and additives do to our bodies over a prolonged period of time, but we know enough now to understand that choosing all-natural goods is almost always the safer choice...."but let me assure you, that t h i s book will not help you get there.Gisela Hausmann, author and blogger
