THE SAINTED is a story filled with the vileness of human depravity and its roots in the ultimate evil. It is also a story of loyalty, of family, of heartbreak and of the love two people can have for each other. It ends in an epic confrontation with Satan himself and his demon hoard. Michael Medico was born in New York City where he attended Power Memorial Academy. After graduation Mike joined the U.S. Navy and served stateside during the Viet Nam War. After being discharged from the service, he attended Pace University and graduated with a degree in marketing and advertising.
Michael founded an advertising agency and served as CEO for 35 years. He has written numerous articles published in various trade journals and has been a featured participant on many panel discussions and industry workshops.

By oliver The Sainted is an inspiring, imaginative work, full of warm, relatable, down-to-earth characters interspersed with moving spiritual scenes and lessons from the lives and deaths of the saints, and a detective murder thriller of heavenly proportions to boot! The story is set in Huntington, New York, and the author does a fantastic job of imbuing the tale with the local setting, scene and vernacular. At the other extreme, it is captivating to be suddenly transported to 6th Century Italy, or to the ancient Holy Land whenever the main character (Chris Pella) unexpectedly experiences intense visions, where he witnesses first hand the miracles lived by the saints. I especially like how the saintly experiences are not whitewashed, but reveal the raw human experience of suffering and all the complexities involved with how the truly faithful must have endured extreme difficulties. Also, I like how the saintly visions are not painted as simplified morality tales, but rather they are palpable, complex and written in an almost prophetic style. Hopefully there are more Sainted adventures to come for the protagonist Chris Pella!

His writing style is so warm and welcoming that it makes you feel as though you and Chris Pella, his chief protagonist, are sitting together somewhere and having a nice, long chat. To get an idea of what Chris Pella is like, picture a traditional, two-dimensional Rambo type of action hero and then go 180 degrees in the right direction.Managing to portray the very best of Italian American culture (the food, the love, the humor) Chris isn’t afraid to show us his tender side. He describe his parents as being “…filled with so much love for me that it was kind of special and embarrassing at the same time.”As a 60+ woman, I wish men of all ages would take “wooing” lessons from Chris. He’s sexy, endearing, and respectful in just the right measures. One of the things that saves Chris from being an obnoxiously perfect protagonist is his massive insecurity over the fact that the woman he’s just met and fallen in love with comes from a very rich family. Another is his genuine and not altogether unrealistic dread that he might very well fall short in the courage department when confronted with the ultimate evil.As someone who was raised Catholic but has long since lapsed, I found the author’s depictions of the saints to be quite fascinating and not in the least sanctimonious. His demons were, quite simply, terrifying.From my perspective, Michael Medico gets high marks all around for writing a fictional story with an extremely creative storyline, in a writing style that is as distinctive as it is addictive.

By Annie The Sainted: a Chris Pella NovelAuthor: Michael MedicoFrom early in life Chris Pella had vision or visitations from the Saints. He was only fourteen when he was transported back three hundred years in time. He silently watched as Cosmas and Damian did surgery on a very ill man. They told him his purpose in life. “You will be called on to serve the Lord by helping people to ease their pain, find hope and comfort, renew their faith and deliver justice……You will be asked to perform works for the good of those truly in need, all in service to our Lord.” The Saints continued coming to Chris throughout his life. As he heard each saint’s story he began to understand what they were telling him and what he could learn from each them. He had no idea the battle that awaited him.Chris’s uncle, Spartaco Barese, aka Uncle Al, had thirty-four years of experience as a police officer in Suffolk. Uncle Al was like a second father to Chris; he was the only one that knew Chris heard from and talked with the Saints, often Chris and his uncle worked together. The bodies of several young women have been found, each disfigured and killed by crows. When Beth, the woman Chris loves is targeted to be the next victim, Chris must face satan and his own fears.Author Michael Medico has created a poignant tale that has stayed with me long after I read the last word. A good book entertains but a great book causes one to ponder the meaning; a great book affects one’s soul and perhaps brings about changes. That is the way The Sainted touched me. It left me pondering changes in my life. I have two criticisms was a few editing errors but nothing so drastic that they distracted me from the tale. The second is the cover. While it does fit well with the content and the cover is beautiful, I believe it may prevent many from picking up the book. Rather than giving the appearance of a contemporary novel it depicts of a tale of the past. To a large degree this is a tale of the past/the saints and their tales but this is also a contemporary novel. When I first began reading The Sainted I was not sure what to expect. Quickly I was caught up in the tale. This is Christian fiction at its finest. Author Michael Medico has created a tale of fantasy, romance, mystery, spiritualism, suspense, thriller and even a bit of humor. There is a deep abiding message to this tale, one of hope, one of making a decision to accept the Lord as Savior, and one of denying self. The author discusses free will. The author gives us background information on many of the saints. I was unfamiliar with most of the saints and found their tales fascinating. Thank you Michael Medico for writing a novel that could possibly change the lives of readers.
