I recently discovered Catherine Breese Davis. She is a splendid poet, if you like straightforward, deeply insightful poetry. Her styles vary, but are well-informed by poetic fundamentals and are stunningly memorable. The first half of the book are some of her wonderful poems. The second half of the book are essays on Davis's life and work, which are very helpful in putting her in context. I highly recommend this artfully compiled and printed book for poetry lovers.

By Kathe Davis Admittedly I'm biased, since I knew Catherine (no relation), and have a memory piece in this collection. Still, I can say objectively that it has been beautifully edited, has collected some remarkable and insightful critical commentary, and above all has assembled Catherine's own poems more completely and coherently than any previous publication. The reader can see this serious, dedicated poet in her changing contexts, and at the same time learn her near-tragic uniqueness.
