Lessons in Love is a new adult romance series about going away to college and falling in love for the first time. Four friends from high school - Alyssa, Kimberly, Paige, and Lisa - share a dorm room and this new phase of their lives as they meet the men of their dreams.First to FallIt took only one day at college for life to throw a wrench in Alyssa's plans. When she walks into the quirky used bookstore just off campus she expects to find a few old paperbacks, not to lose her head over the store's sexy owner - and Kyle is way out of her league, the kind of sex-on-a-stick bad boy who would never give a girl like her a second thought. Or would he? There's nothing Alyssa loves more than a good challenge, and this one promises to be a lot more exciting than running for class president. She just wants to make Kyle notice her, that's all - to see her as a woman. How hard can that be? She'll stop before she gets in over her head. But she can't get those smoldering brown eyes and sinful smile out of her mind, and she keeps imagining his full, soft lips hovering a breath away from her own.Would kissing him really be so dangerous? Kyle doesn't do sweet and innocent. He certainly doesn't mess with the kind of college girls who will still be getting carded when they're forty. But one look at Alyssa's smile is enough to shake him, and he can't seem to make himself push her away. It's a mistake and he knows it - he's too old for her, she's not remotely his type, and he's not into relationships - but she's under his skin like no other woman has ever managed before. He knows he can't have her, but maybe he can have just a little taste? He can always stop, any time he wants to, before he gets in too deep with her. What can it hurt? Just one kiss, and then he can stop. Can't he?Would kissing her really be so dangerous?First to BurnFalling flat on your butt in the mud in front of the groom's older brother is not the best way to make a first impression at a wedding. Kimberly expects the weekend to go downhill from there, but Colin turns a horrible experience into something she can laugh about, and before long she's spending far more time with him than is good for her. While the sexy fireman puts out burning buildings during the day, he's notorious for setting the sheets on fire at night with any woman who catches his eye, and Kimberly has no intention of being another notch on his bedpost. But is there really anything wrong with flirting a little with the blue-eyed fireman? After all, she hardly knows him and she's really not interested in him that way. And it might be fun to see if he makes a move. Not that she really wants him to or anything. She just wants to see if he will.Lusting over his scrumptious body a little and enjoying his teasing wouldn’t hurt anything, right?Colin can't explain his sudden fascination with the pretty, young bridesmaid. She's nothing like the women he usually goes for - flashy and experienced and unlikely to get their feelings hurt if he forgets to call them later. Maybe it's the way that she manages to look both sweetly innocent and completely delectable at the same time. Or maybe it's because making her blush is a lot more fun than trading tired sexual innuendos with other women. It was all supposed to be fun, just a little harmless flirting to pass the time while he's stuck at his brother's wedding. Each time he gazes into those honey-gold eyes his restraint slips a little further, though, and despite his best intentions to keep his hands off he's almost kissed her twice already. And why not? What's wrong with giving a pretty girl a simple kiss? But would kissing her really be simple at all?Something told him that he was going to kiss her anyway, though.First to HealFor as long as Paige can remember she has wanted t

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Short and sweet collection perfect for lunch hours or bedtime reading. By kyrais I really enjoyed this collection - the friendship between the girls and the funny banter made for a quick, fun read.It was really nice to see girls with healthy, supportive friendships with other girls. I was getting really sick and tired of the NA/YA tropey situation where the heroines seem to never get along with others of their own gender. So it was really nice to see lots of positive female interaction. Yeah, I'm sorry if that sounds a bit too book-report-y, but it's true.I liked how the girls were sweet, but sassy without ever really descending into being rude or obnoxious. They came across as intelligent, but fun regardless. There was a bit of the usual "we're nerds and we're not quite sure what to do with ourselves", but I cheered when I saw that they had the gumption to go ahead and be brave when they saw something (the guys) that they really wanted. They were brave about it and it was super sweet. If there was any self-deprecating stuff, it wasn't heavy handed and it got shut down quick, which was also refreshing. Why not an unequivocal five stars:I read Olivia Blake's alter ego and I have to admit to liking my heroes sweet and filthy. In this collection, they're definitely the former, but not so much the latter. I was really hoping for Rhys to make good on his sensual almost threat when he tells Paige that he can be very demanding and asks her how helpful she wanted to be (ok, admitting I was looking forward to sexy librarian hanky here), but that never quite materialized. I missed the dirty thoughts and the filthy talk and (let's be honest) the steamier stuff. So for those who prefer their romance sweeter - this is definitely the milder stuff. Bit more euphemistic and vague, which isn't up my alley, but hey. Different strokes and all. There were also points in which I felt like there could have been more detail. Just why did Claire pop up out of the blue? What exactly did Duncan get up to and how did he decide on his new career? Also, considering that the whole Colin-Kimberly thing was mostly over one weekend, I was hoping to see more of their interactions when they were in a more at-home setting.Don't get me wrong, Olivia Blake is an awesome author and I love her stories and I definitely think this is more than worth picking up -- I just wish there was a bit more Kelli hanging around.Would I reread? Definitely. How much did I pay and was it worth it? Borrowed with Kindle Unlimited but I think that $2.99 is more than fair for this collectionHow much would I pay for it in retrospect? $2.99 for these four stories is a pretty good deal, actually. If in a series, does this standalone? Yes.Would I rec this story? Yes.Will I buy the next book in the series? Definitely yes. Especially if it involves Jacob. I can't wait to see some girl cut him down to size and have it stick.
