About the Author Larry Bohannan has been the golf writer and columnist for the Desert Sun newspaper and desertsun.com since 1986, covering the PGA Tour, LPGA and Champions Tour events in the Coachella Valley. A 1982 graduate from Cal State Fullerton with a BA degree in communications, he was named the 2011 Media Person of the Year by the California Golf Writers and Broadcasters Association. He has previously authored 50 Years of Hope, a history of the Bob Hope Classic. He lives in Indio.

Boy was I right!!!I had previously read the author's (Bohannan) other book and this one is even better. Truly an expert on the subject of golf in the Palm Springs area, there is nobody more knowledgable on this topic than Bohannan.Very easy to read and covers the entire history of golf in the Palm Springs area -- from it's humble beginnings as a LA resort getaway up to the current PGA and LPGA events that took place a few months ago. Very comprehensive and very detailed, I felt like I learned something new on every page.If I had one complaint it would be I wish it was longer because I didn't want to put the book down!I will be buying this for all of my golfing buddies and family members for the holidays. If you are a fan of golf, a fan of history, a fan of the Palm Springs area or any combination of those, this book is an absolute must read.EXCELLENT READ!!! Would give it six stars if I could
