About the Author Born is 1943, John Bascom is a retired banker living in northern Michigan with his wife, Nickie. He is the author of the well-received political satire novel, "Caine's Pestilence", first published in 2011 and available on Amazon. He has hunted and fished across the globe, including a traditional big game safari in Zimbabwe, south-central Africa. He draws on his personal experiences and talent for writing fiction in his most recent collection of short stories, "Beneath a Hunter's Sky."

By Curtis Kendall This is a terrific collection of (mostly) fictional experiences and perspectives obviously harvested from a lifetime of outdoor experiences. It's a fun read, and includes details that are keenly interesting to the hunter/outdoorsman, but also a host of characters that stand on their own for the broader audience. It is well written, and has a lot humor. I recommend it strongly.

Great Short Stories of Outdoors and Hunting By billy reno I truly enjoyed the short stories that Mr.Bascom shared of his safari to Africa as well as his fly-in fishing trip with his daughter. His fictional stories offered a great mix of humor and drama. All in all, the book was a good read. I encourage others to read it.

So when I learned he had released his new collection of outdoors short stories, "Beneath a Hunter's Sky", I got it right away. It was great. The stories are varied, but several made me laugh out loud.Highly recommend.
