"Well, go to church then, and I hope to goodness you'll come back in a more spiritual frame of mind! Though how you can feel spiritual in that flibbertigibbet dress is more than I know! An actress, indeed! No mummers' masks have ever blotted the scutcheon of my family tree. The Clydes were decent, God-fearing people, and I don't propose, Miss, that you shall disgrace the name."

About the Author Carolyn Wells, June 18, 1862-March 26, 1942 was an American writer and poet. She was best known for her books of poetry and humor until around 1910 she read one of Anna Katherine Green’s mysteries and took up the genre. She was a collector of poetry by other authors, and, upon her death, she bequeathed her collection of the works of Walt Whitman to the Library of Congress.

Readable, incredible By Khirul The detectives and suspects spend most of the book performing tedious searches that remind us of tasks required of princesses in fairy tales, and getting kidnapped repeatedly. The deceased created most of the trouble herself, and the resolution is clever yet unsatisfying.
